I can't believe I've had him for a while now. And, more likely, he probably can't believe he's had me for so long. I really love the old horses in all their old and wise glory, or crotchetiness, or whatever else they've earned the right to be.
Anyone else have a special horse who's turning 25 or older this year?
Yup, my TB has just turned 25 (or shall on some unspecified more Spring date which I don't know). He's doing great. Still can do some piaffe passage and his extensions haven't slowed down. I also have a pony who just turned 26. He's still going full bore. Love the oldies!
Yup, my old guy Woodrow, a quarter horse/gaited something, just turned 26 and he's going strong. He doesn't know he's "elderly" and still loves to go trail riding. He can out walk most horses 1/2 his age and is always up for an adventure. I've had him now for 17 years and never regretted a day. Although he has cushings now, with medication he's doing fine and is feeling fine. I love him so much and tell him almost every day, along with plenty of nose kisses.
