Default New boots need to be taller

I got a GREAT deal on a pair of boots but I messed up on my measurements (forgot to include the heel ) so they're about and inch and a half to two inches too short. Has anyone successfully had a top added to their boots? I'm thinking of taking them to a local cobbler and seeing if they can add a couple of inches of patent leather or faux alligator or something.

It can be done, and I think going with a contrasting leather like you're thinking is the way to do it. Do they have a zipper? Also, I'd wait until they completely break in before you do anything, so if it ends up being three inches that need to be added you accommodate that FIRST Also, I've got a couple of GREAT local options and have had much boot work done, but if you want to show in these boots, I'd probably send them to Woody's in Florida.
