Rex Trailer, the singing cowboy host of Massachusetts children's TV show "Boomtown" from 1956 to 1974, passed away last night.
So many of us grew up with him and maybe even got into horses b/c of his beautiful palominos that I thought it was worth a mention.
"Boomtown" Wiki here.
Godspeed, Rex!!! I'm sure your horses were waiting for you at the bridge.

I remember that show well! Was on it with my Girl Scout troop...maybe '71 or '72?
COOL!!!! I would have given anything to be on it. That must have been awesome!!
Sigh. I *am* old. Saw him in person with his horse at a camping show at Rockingham Park. No idea when that was, maybe 1968?

I watched it in the beginning but my younger brothers watched it a lot more. I used to love his horse (of course!).
Awwww look y'all, there's a Mass. Senate bill to make him the "official cowboy" of Massachusetts!! *snif* Write your state reps... (Like this is NOT going to happen?)
My FB page is a scream right now... I have a bunch of old Boston rock'n'rollers on it and ALL the guys are like "Awwwww maaaaannnn, Rex TRAILER died!"
Canaqua, do you have any memories of being on the show that you could share?
