Default Eventing barns in NJ within an hour of NYC

Any out there that people would recommend for someone that does not own their own horse?

    Thanks!

Oh boy, now you've made me want to move to NJ. Cavaletti clinics for $80!?

Based on the website (as I've never met her), this seems like a fabulous and great group of people with lots of fun activities!

Not sure about how many school horses these trainers have, but we are lucky here in NJ to have so many wonderful trainers!:

    Sinead Halpin
    Kristin Schmolze
    Doug Payne
    Matt Flynn
    Luis Almeida

just to name a few :P

Not sure what level you are at but my trainer has a nice, sturdy lesson horse available. The horse has gone prelim, foxhunts and dses 3rd lvl dressage. We are about 30 minutes further than the trainers listed above. Pm me if this sounds like it could be a fit for you!

Thanks for the replies, folks. I did some googling prior to asking, but it wasn't clear to me how many of these higher level folks (like Sinead Halpin) were likely to have a schoolie for me to hop on...

If there are any others, let me know!

Many/most of these folks go south this time of year. Marilyn may be gone, too, but only part of the time (judge, TD). She is generally around Monday through Thursday depending on her officiating commitments.

Yes, Marilyn usually sticks around for the most part, now that i think of it, she is probably one of the only true eventing barns that has school horses available on a regular basis

I've been googling and it looks like Califon is more like 1.5 hours away. Have been trying to find a happy medium between living place X and commuting (would be a 2-hour commute to NYC to live in Califon) and living mid-point between the city and a barn that's further from the city.

    Le sigh.

Have tried looking north of the city, too, but you end up in the same sort of fix...

KB--I ride at Marilyn's, live in NYC, and have looked a lot at some way to put it all together and reconcile the horsey life with the need to pay for it all. It's not easy from NYC but where you live and how you live makes all the difference. PM'ing you.
