Default PSA - Vet meds at Costco and don't have to be a member

Costco carries pet (including horse) meds and you don't have to be a member to use the pharmacy for any meds. At least this is true in California. You just tell the person at the front that you're going to the pharmacy and they wave you through. Then when the pharmacist asks you to fill out the paperwork for members to get stuff in the pharmacy, you tell her that you're not a member. The prices are a bit cheaper if you're a member, but my 984 square-foot house is simply not big enough to justify a Costco membership.

Three weeks of Ranitidine (11 extra-strength tablets three times a day) was about $35 and would have been about $4 less if I was a member. My vet's office said that it would have been about $90 through them.

My college-age nephew tells me that this is also true for alcohol, again at least in California. There must be something in the liquor licensing laws that prohibits restrictions on purchasers of alcohol, or something.

That and it's a great company that takes care of its employees. I wish we had one here, too.

Check Abba Vet for prices, too, though--I just got a flyer from them and although the number didn't register in my memory I was struck by how inexpensive their ranitidine seemed to be.

I watched a documentary about them, I think it was on msnbc or something like that. Yeah... great company! It was interesting to see how they work and how they are able to make quality products available at such great prices.

Now... if I could just change the laws in PA and get my vet to write me scripts and get costco to open up in my area... hmmm... I have a lot of work to do.

Are you in Pittsburgh? There's a Costco on the Waterfront.

About 80 miles east... I did a location search on their website and nothing came up for Pittsburgh!

Yeah, 2 weeks' worth of carrots for $7, but who can walk in and out of there and just buy carrots?! When I used to live near one that was a $300 outlay every dang time I walked in there. Of course, that was during the "diaper phase" of my life.

Being a vegetarian and not liking much "junk" food and being a 2 person family means I hit up the fruit, veggies, and paper products and then am generally out of there. But MAN I love Costco

Come on, you don't buy 24-packs of highlighters, 72-packs of AA batteries and gallons of Murphy's Oil Soap??

I just want to know when Deltawave was wearing diapers and how she managed to get out of that phase of her life.

I used to buy my cat thyroid meds at Sam's Club, no membership required, same price for non-members. That was 7 years ago so the same price thing might have changed.

It was the same brand my vet used. My price at Sam's was cheaper than he could buy for.
Oh, well, clearly you're not thoroughly indoctrinated to COTH yet, because finger pointing and drawing conclusions are the cornerstones of this great online community. (Tidy Rabbit)

Fairly simple - just don't grab a shopping cart on your way in! It reduces temptation immeasurably!
