Mini tack? Specifically, blankets (REAL blankets)?
Odie is just too nasty. His hair is matting and I noticed some patches with no hair, which I think are probably caused either by the mats pulling hair out, or maybe Rory is pulling hair out? It's possible. Rory also drools on him after drinking out of the water trough, or while eating hay, or while standing around, or...well, anyways, Rory drools on him, then Odie rolls, and it's just yuck.
I cannot for the life of me find a place (using Google) that sells mini turnouts that look like anything more substantial than freakin' doll clothes! Do they not expect minis to play like their bigger-versioned selves???
I need something that can hold up to this...

I have never bought any for my minis, but you might check Scheniders. The pictures in the catalog look like they might be decent blankets. Do you think Rory might find the blanket a handy way to try and pick up and pack Odie around?
Whatever you find, be sure to post pictures. Odie is adorable, and he is going to unbearably adorable in a little blanket!
Love your pictures and videos.
Signed,
Odie Fan

COTH rocks
And yes, that's why I wanted something non-velcro and heavier denier than I was finding. Rory has picked Odie up when Odie was hanging off the feed bag once, so I imagine a blanket would make an impressive Odie-handle. But I want to clip off that nasty coat and put on a blanket, I worry about fungus under that nasty five inch long coat...yark.

I lucked out and found a Kensington at Cenex for my mini a couple of years ago and that blanket was amazing. Adjustable 6 ways from Sunday and tough as nails. Even turned out with 2 big horses there was never a mark on it.

Good luck. I have a nice Schneider's blanket which my mini is completely, adamantly terrified of. This little guy is scared of nothing, except his damned blanket.
I've finally got over it and accepted the fact that he's got a 4" thick hairy overcoat of his own that generally does a pretty good job unless it's wet for several days.

I really struggle with finding real, quality equipment for these guys. Ended up ordering a couple good bits from the UK. But anyhow...
I have the Kensington fly sheets and I do like those. Didn't have good luck with the fit of the Schneiders. My boys are larger, but Weatherbeeta's pony blankets in a 48" fit great. There have 600 and 1200 denier versions, in sheet, mid and heavy. EOUS has a mini blanket with a tough exterior, but it's velcro. Amigo also makes a pony blanket down to a 48", but it's HUGE. Like could have fit both ponies together.

I lied and it is apparently a foal blanket but it looks like a mini horse blanket.

I bought my mini a joules dog blanket last winter. It's rip stop and waterproof. Fit him perfectly and was $25.

I've considered dog blankets...wasn't sure on the hardiness though.

OK, escaped to the barn. Odie measured a 44'' assuming I did it correctly.

Adorable!! Wish I'd seen this sooner because I have a 44" that I don't need - measured wrong using a weight tape (stood on the 4" spot at the end like you should to measure height) but didn't add it back in. Anyway, if you (or anyone else) needs another, PM me.
