Hollywood, but not the one where they have the Oscars!

Default There may be hope after all.....

I gave a clinic today, and while I enjoy every clinic I give, I must say today's had something happen that I have not experienced in a long while. I taught 18 kids and ladies today, and every. single. one. of them was properly mounted, their tack and ponies or horses were clean. They were polite, dressed neatly, and they all knew what the bight of the reins is, and where it goes! But that was not the coolest the end (no grooms here, every person took care of her own horse)....everyone went into the office and we had a question and answer session.
The littlest girls looked up and me and asked, "have you ever ridden with George Morris?"
I said "yes".....and they SQUEALED with delight!!!!
It has been years since I have had little ones who knew who GM was, it truly made my day!
And after we were done with the questions, their trainer reminded them all to go check on their horses one more time. This trainer does not drug, and his kids all have proper basics and are appropriately mounted, so, there may yet be hope for our sport.

That made me smile. Thanks for sharing.

I think this board needs more positive stories like this.

Thank you for sharing! As a young trainer starting out this gives me hope there are still trainers out there playing fair. I also don't drug or any of the other low things some trainers do and my students all learn how to properly prepare their horses. But it's hard for me to watch them try and work so hard on themselves and the horse to go out and be beat by another horse who it drugged or so lame it shouldn't be in the ring. Thanks again!

So you're saying, if you had the chance to audit a clinic given by GM at a fairly large venue, to do even if the drive is 10 hrs...

Awesome story, love getting that feeling!
