Dang that's a lot of traffic. Eek!!! I wonder why the driver doesn't use a whip, he slaps the reins on the horses back to get him moving faster.

I love Barry, but I wish he would hold a whip (I hate seeing them being slapped with the lines) and he had a bit more contact, like 3-4 more inches.

I love his videos. Good example of get out and show the horse as much as possible. I will never understand people who won't and then become afraid that poor muffin will react badly.

I'm sure his horses are very well trained. Knowing the traffic and the way people drive over here... it scares me to watch him driving on the main roads.

Sad thing is that the Dartmoor Hill Pony, bred on the open moor (from stock grazing on the commons) and NOT considered a purebred Dartmoor pony, sell for pence (literally 50p sometimes!) straight off the moor. Some are lovely animals, like this one. Glad it is doing a good job here.

They are nice ponies but they do sell for a tiny amount. Same with the Welsh ponies- there's too many of them being bred.

Weren't they doing a cull (or simply reduction) of the ones on the moor? Shot & sent to zoos? sad, but there are worse things.

There is an association http://www.dartmoorhillpony.com/ that is working hard to improve the ponies and deal with the problem of over production. The sad thing is that many of the herds are owned by Commoners who have farmed the land and raised the ponies for generations - so they are real Dartmoors - but they don't have the 'Dartmoor' breed papers. I believe the stud book no longer accepts ponies without traceable pedigrees.
