Robert Whitaker suspended for 12 mths after kicking (!) steward
Wow... one can 1. Not help to wonder whatever made that unfold and 2. Thatīs quite a statement the brits do suspending a Whitaker, 12 mths not being able to compete (as far as I can understand) is quite a blow...

According to the link you provided, Mr. Whitaker kicked a security guard and is serving a 12 month suspension of the suspension subject to rule 82 (not sure what that covers).

As I read it it is a "6 month sentence", but enforcement is suspended (so no effect, and he is on "probation" for 12 months, where IF he violates the rules again this sentence will then be enforced.

Luckyshow you might want read for comprehension, not just the title.
He kicked a security guard (still not very sportsmanlike, but we don't know all the details). Was fined and suspended for 6 months. That suspension was amended to be a 12 month probation provided he does not violate any part of rule 82 during those 12 months.

After having fallen foul of Security Guards at HOYS I am sure it was a sheer frustration kick. The showgrounds employ less than intelligent non-horse yobo's who get a Hitler complex when issued a uniform.

Who kicks people? I find the "oh really" look with a raised eyebrow, a shut mouth, and a calm but polite approach to the employee's boss explaining the dispute usually gets much better results - in any situation.
I don't think I kicked anyone even when I was 4.

I do really kind of want to know the back story.
Also, it doesn't matter if one Whitaker is suspended, there are at least a thousand more to fill in...

LOL. Whitaker was not suspended for 12 months. His suspension was suspended for 12 months.
AND he had to pay 2500 pounds. (Don't have the pound sign on my computer)
That is a far higher amount than the worst of US violators get.
Somedays, the supply of curse words is insufficient to meet my demands.

Knowing the horse show scene over there...and the Whitakers....I can only imagine the story involved the horse show bar in some way.

Ok, my best guess is that he was being removed somehow by security (like from the bar for being too drunk?) and then kicked the security guards in protest....

That's so baseball... which they don't have in the UK.
Do you guys have the umpire/player/manager tantrums in cricket that we accept in American baseball?
