    Default Transformation continues...

I've crossed over from the Hunter/Jumper board a few times to share my pictures of my hunters schooling cross country, but for the first time I went with an Eventing trainer to school cross country on my mom's OTTB ... with the goal of competing this year! We seem to be somewhere between BN and Novice - physically capable of Novice but my brain weenies out and feel more comfortable with BN so will probably stay at that level. Everything is so wide! And I keep envisioning him putting his feet IN the ditches or ON the doghouses. YuckkkK!!

Anyways .. some pictures of his transformation...

And yes ... we even did the water complex!

    Excited about competing in 2013!

    Welcome to eventing!

I love the change in your boy's knees from the H/J photo to the cross country photo. He is very nice!

At that level, there is no harm in stepping in the ditch. In fact, Lucinda encourages it.

Cross country jumps are built to be strong enough to deal with being "banked" by a horse.

    Have fun!

Good to know Janet! Now to get my brain to believe it....

Trainer says I should practice low, wide oxers to familiarize my eye with a wider obstacle - and to envision an oxer when I ride to a ditch. I think I'm also going to create faux ditches in the ring using black tarp. I keep looking down into those things & dropping my shoulders. Over and on!

Yoga mats (with ground rails) work well as fake ditches too

Congrats on the transformation and Good Luck!
