Both of the boots you posted have very thick soles so you will have very little "feel" while riding, they are also rather wide (foot & calf) so may not fit safely in your present stirrups - look at the Ariat Bromont (check closeout sales online as you may find them 1/2 price) & try for a similar boot type (if you want an actual riding boot): Mtn Hrse does a version but is wider fittting in both foot & calf.
(Note the Bromonts still offer various calf & height options for each foot size)
To me the mountain horse tall boots look too bulky to ride comfortably in. I suppose they might be easier in a Western saddle. Paddock boots would bug me because the ends of jeans would either be uncomfortable stuffed into them, or wet. I'm assuming as a western rider you ride in Jeans. The Ariat Brossards:http://www.smartpakequine.com/ariat-..._-NA&cm_vc=Rec may be more "western-y" (if you care) for you and definitely more affordable than the Bromonts, though possibly not as pretty.
