Go to an NBHA show and you will see where it is coming from.

Practically all women here that compete do so barrel racing.
Yes, by many standards, "they can't ride" like the rest of us do, but in their own way, for what they do, barrel racing, you ought to try it and see if it is as easy as you say, "just ride a fast horse"
Not really.
They spend years breeding suitable horses, conditioning and managing and training those horses.
How they do it and work so hard, it is not easy, it takes years to have a well patterned, consistent, healthy, sound horse that doesn't sour on it.
Just like everything else in life, judging what others do has to come from knowing first why they do it.
Looking in from the outside and expressing an opinion without knowledge will just show that you don't know anything about barrel racing.
Mind you, I have never turned a barrel, I too don't like how so many ride, because to me riding is about doing other with horses than what they do.
I do know they do so much more than just sit there.
It is very interesting to hear them evaluate and discuss what they are doing with their horses and why and how each one runs, loose, tight and watch them practice.
They take excellent care of their horses, they are fed very carefully, have all the latest therapies, massage, chiro, water exercises, best vets caring for them, what else could we ask?
I say, evidently barrel racing is not your thing, it is not mine either, but do learn more before bashing a whole discipline because you don't understand what they do and don't like it anyway.
