    Default Rose Parade!!

I love this parade!!! The best marching bands (go Wisconsin!) and horse clubs.

Am I the only one watching it? The horses are fantastic! This parade is on my "bucket list" to see live.

I'm watching too! I love HGTV for showing the whole parade without commercials. Network TV seems to always cut to commercials when the horse units come along.

I'm watching on NBC and the commentary is really horrible. Love, love, love the floats and gorgeous horses with riders in full regalia.

It's the most perfect parade in the world - just the right balance of floats, marching bands, and HORSES!!!

We don't have TV so I'm missing it but my aunt wanted to know what breed the pintos pulling the chariots were? She said they looked almost Egyptian, I thought maybe they were Saddlebreds? Anybody know?

That was Michele Macfarlane and her saddlebreds.

Aha, thank you! My aunt has been out of the horse industry for many years, the Saddlebreds probably look a little different nowadays. She sure has some stunning horses! *drool*

It was really great this year.

The tribute to military working dogs' float was super! For those who did not see it; There was a soldier on the float who JUST got back from Afghanistan. The float sponsers had arranged like 10000 tickets for military families to attend the parade, and the float stopped and he surprised his wife and son who were watching in the stands!!! They rode the rest of the parade route on the float with him.

Not long after that a couple from Chesapeake VA got married on their float. . . that was different!

The bands are always great, and so are the horses. The best channel to watch it on is RFD-TV.

    Happy New Year!
