Default Like to read? Want to help an animal rescue?

I'm looking for five beta readers willing to read 60 pages (double spaced, about 17K words) of a novel-in-progress aimed for upper middle grade readers. Read and answer a few short questions, and I'll donate $25 to a 501(c)(3) animal rescue of your choice, in your name!

Special Bounty! For an 11-13 year old female reader, the donation gets bumped up to $50!

Send me a pm, let me know what kind of riding you do -- I'm looking for a variety of readers, so it doesn't matter if you are horseless or own a farm, ride the trails or show Grand Prix.

    Cheers!

What's a beta reader? Does that show that I'm not tech savvy or that I'm not a reader or that I'm just ignorant?

Beta reader, to me, means the second reader (the author being the first) -- someone willing to read a draft version of a book and give constructive criticism and input into what they think works, what doesn't, etc. I always understood that beta readers didn't have to do a copy-editor's job (correcting typos or grammar) but I just googled and some sites say beta readers should be copy-editing. (I certainly don't expect that!)

I think it's publishing slang, a take-off from "beta testers" of software.
