Yup,with the current bill decisions on how to cut spending have been kicked down the road for a couple of months. (ie the sequestration discussions.)

The bill as currently written does block the pay raises for Congress that have been discussed in another thread here.

I wonder if Cantor is setting up to challenge Boehner for the speakership in the next Congress. The Republicans lost eight seats in Nov, but will still be in the majority. (from 242R, 193D to 234R,201D as of Jan 3rd.)

Looks like we're over the cliff. Unless the House changes their minds about amending it. Game over until 1/3.

No Bullet dodged at all. They did NOTHING that will fix the situation. They raised taxes, BUT that money is nothing even close to making up for the continued SPENDING they do.

Spending cuts are just not a BIG deal I guess. I just dont understand it. EVERYONE knows we are in huge debt, but are OK if JUST taxes are raised.

Class warfare, pitting American's against American's, works to distract people from the REAL problem.....THE SPENDING!! I just find it all really sad!

Actually it's both. Our defense spending has exploded and our revenue is down to the lowest percentage of GDP since the 50's.

And I have numbers to back up the revenue side:

Actually projected spending is higher now according to the Congressional Budget Office. Whoever said we have politicians where we should have statesmen is correct. Deficit 'fiscal cliff' bill actually spends $330 billion more

We've avoided nothing. The jigolos and jigolettes in DC continue to dance. Endlessly.

Yes. And it appears there is no way to stop them.

I like visuals when talking about big numbers. That graph should be tweeted to every member of Congress tonight.

We watched the first few minutes of the CBS evening news and they mentioned the prez's plane is fueled up and on standby to take him back to Hawaii. Gosh that is frustrating, the expenses that generates and whether he is or isn't, makes him appear to be completely out of touch.

Now it appears that the House will vote on the bill - unamended - sometime tonight. There weren't enough votes within the Republican caucus to amend the bill and Boehner will allow the bill to go to the floor for a vote.

I'm so-o-o sick of this. We talk about the media manipulating politics, this is a classic case where the politicians are manipulating the media with their phony self created crisis.

There is one small saving grace. The debt ceiling issue is going to pop up in a matter of days.

Please House, please stick to your guns and deny an increase!
