Lost our old Newfie today. RIP, sweet boy
Our sweet, old, Newfie was pts today. About a month ago we found that he had a tumor in his nose. At first we thought something was stuck up his nose, but vet #2 got a good look at it, and neither vet #1 nor vet #2 recommended doing anything to remove it, due to the age of the dog. The tumor was growing rapidly, and today the vet agreed it was time for him to go.
He was the sweetest boy, and he will be missed. I gave him a forever hug today, and I hope it will last him (and me) until we meet again.
It's 2013. Do you know where your old horse is?

He was 11, 12, or 13, depending on who tried to figure it out. We're not the original owners, and he didn't come with vet records. We seem to remember that he was a 13th birthday present for a friend of my son's, and that young man is now 25. The dog was somewhat rambunctious in his younger years, but was well-trained, and always a gentleman for us. He landed with us when his owner enlisted in the Navy, and his mom wasn't going to keep the dog.

I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for letting him go when it was time. Many animals are forced to go on too long when their owners could have lovingly helped them to cross the bridge. {{{{{ HUGS }}}}}

So very sorry for the loss of your beloved Newfie. That is a good long life for a giant breed like Newfoundlands and they are so wonderful. I know he was a major part of your family life and I hope you are all doing okay. He will wait for you. Take care.
