I soak mine over night in salt water. When I cook them I add chicken stock and cook them in that. Seems to help alot.
I always imagine what the "Frontier" or Oregon Trail must have sounded or smelled like, all those pots of half cooked beans...ugh...
And let's not forget the classic campfire scene from Blazing Saddles. Flatulence is always funny...always. Just ask my 8th graders
