What a grand old horse, I loved the story Barbara Livingston did on him earlier this year. His grandson, Avie's Quality, is just entering the racing scene and won his first big race at Woodbine earlier in the year.
His Hopeful at Saratoga was the first time that I really caught on to how special racing is there. Although it should be obvious, when I captured Lord Avie and Well Decorated before the race - I was blown away by how gorgeous and cared for they were. This was back when they used to saddle under the trees, and the public were allowed closer. Don't believe he won, but he was impressive just the same.
But he thought, "This procession has got to go on." So he walked more proudly than ever, as his noblemen held high the train that wasn't there at all. H.C.Anderson
