Hi everyone! I just went out to try this guy, he's pretty neat! I'd love some opinions on his conformation, movement, etc. I'd be looking to retrain him to be an eventer. He's a track trained four yr old gelding, old bucked shins but retired sound. Thanks in advance!
From what's on here I like him...depending on what you want to do with him of course.
Nice type, let down and restarted. Attractive, interested in surroundings but sensible on a cold day alone on an indoor. Nice rider there too, soft but correct and asking for proper responses.
He is downhill and I'd like to see him reach up a little more behind but, IME, that can be worked with, it will limit a bit but not for most uses. He looks like something that would appeal to a buyer for a safe lower level type too should you decide to sell.
Certainly worth a look.
When opportunity knocks it's wearing overalls and looks like work.
I agree, nice solid citizen type. The downhill is b/c he has a big heavy (and nicely) built front end set on a pair of short front legs. The back end is going to have to work harder to carry and lift. So I'd be sure to check his hocks and carefully strengthen him over time without soring him.
Very usefull LL guy. He appears to be an honest working type.
