Default Left coast horse trailer brands?

OK, I've determined that I need a new(er) trailer. Current trailer is a step up 2H side-by-side that I love, but it's a mid-90s and the ever-growing Rory was rather sardine-ish the last time we used it. Plus, after the Odie thing, I want the option of having a ramp.

I like the look of the trailer from Eclipse, and admittedly, the price point is pretty attractive, but the closest dealer I've found is Michigan . Logan Coach, which is a brand we have a good relationship with already due to the LQ trailer being a Logan, makes the same trailer I want but the price is for even the basic package. I found a used one that was still about $5k over the price of a new Eclipse.

I checked a couple other national brands, and some (like Sooner) don't appear to make a side-by-side.

What're my options? Other brands anyone can think of checking? Has anyone had a trailer delivered? I technically could take some time off work and go get one, but I don't wanna!

Wow, that Eclipse is really nice. Found this on the distributor map on their website:

Eclipse :: Pacific Northwest & West Coast

    Vancouver, WA
    98686 US

They also make tack trunks that look pretty cool... How long before a money tree bears fruit?

I have a Morgan Built that has been a great trailer for the 10 or so years I've had it.

I LOVE my Hawk! I got mine in Redmond, Oregon at KMR trailer sales
    http://kigers.com/KMR%20trailers%20page/trail1.htm

They took my old Trailswest in trade and the Hawk has been an absolute gem of a trailer. I have a 2H straight load bumper pull with a dressing room. Big change from a slant, but my horse (and all those I've hauled in it, including a 17.2 long bodied model) rides and loads in it very well. I get lots of positive comments about it.

Bickford Trailers in Seattle sells them, too. Mine was used and looked brand new. Light, easy to haul, well built, huge inside, light and bright and airy.

I see a lot of Trails West around here.* I have no idea how expensive they are, nor anything about their quality. I have a 3 horse slant load Charmac, which is old and ugly but sturdy.

Trails West are good trailers, but heavy and steel. They rust quickly here, unless stored undercover, which few folks have. Mine was okay, but got rusty and needed the floor boards replaced periodically (that's pretty normal). I have aluminum and won't go back.

My current trailer is a Charmac, and I'll probably try to sell it or use it on trade . It has some damage on one side where it got rubbed on a barn, so it is going to affect trade-in price way more than private party.

Thanks for all the info so far!

Well, DH is deploying next year so household expenses will drop by a few hundred, plus I'm selling my motorcycle and the little horse trailer...

That's a great price for the Eclipse but I don't know anything about them, they could be a piece of crap for all I know.

Charmac's are good trailers and generally hold a good resale/trade-in value even with a little <ahem> customization.

I love the Hawk, it's my dream trailer, that plus the Trailet 3 horse GN.

Bickford is in Snohomish and carry a variety, also there's the one down in Woodway(?) I think, near the Oregon border that has a large inventory and of course, there's Luft's in Cle Elum.

I have a friend that deals in Eclipse trailers (we are in Nova Scotia so not much help in location) but the trailers are well made (for the price point) and handle travelling in all our weather conditions quite well.

I know that sundowner offers a 2 horse straight load but I would think it would be more money.

And I've seen the tack trunks in person and they are nice!

Carol, I think we talked on another thread? 2H side-by-side with ramp?

I may call Kiperts in Olympia, that's where we got our big trailer, and see if they can track down Logan's 2H WB with a ramp used. I wouldn't be taking this thing over the mountains or anything, but now I'm worried about getting an Eclipse since aqhadreamer said they are nice for the price... So's Kia, but maybe I want a Chevy at Kia prices? Hmm. The one dealer in WA doesn't have inventory it doesn't look like.

I think we did....I was going to post pics for someone but I forget who.... yes it is a 2 horse straight load side ramp. As I said I got the deluxe package, added 16 inch wheels, downsized to a Euro divider and I really can't fault it. I'll grant that the base model was a bit basic.

OTOH I drive a KIA Sorento. When I'm not driving the 2500 Laramie that is

I really don't understand the comment "for the price" I went to the VA Equine Extravaganza a few weeks ago and it was comparable to the other trailers I saw there, Gore, Hawk, etc. I didn't see any that made me say "OH I wish I had bought that one" And they were priced about the same, about $15K. It's better built than my CM and a WHOLE LOT better than the old Valley.

I'm having trouble posting public pics to my Picasa account but if you send me your email address I can send you a private link

Only 7' tall--a bit short for even a straightload (and Rory's a big boy!). I got my Hawk at that dealer, used 2010 2H straight 7'6" tall, extra long with dressing room for $10K, minus my trade in. Hell of a deal.

He's a hair under 16h.... But his breeder said his half siblings got another inch or two in their 5 yo year. Nevertheless, I'd like a tall trailer .

    Carol, I'll pm you :-).
