Just heard the footing was terrible! Looks like Trump is going to have some work that needs to be done if he wants to keep this going!

I heard that the footing was terrible. I'm surprised that with all the money Donald has he didn't put the best footing money could by down. I guess he lacked knowledge on what type of footing is appropriate for horses? I wonder how many riders will go back next year if he decides to have the class again?

Candice King went and schooled on it much earlier before the event, a couple months ago I believe to test the footing. I just don't think they were prepared for what a -not generally used for show jumping- grass track would turn into after so many horses went on it. I think he will have to look into different footing if he wants this to continue! In an interview he stated that the "only thing that doesn't like the event is his grass.." and Mark added "but he has enough green to get that fixed.." so we will see what changes they make IF they want it go on! I think he has to do some serious reconsidering on footing if he wants Reed and a bunch of other riders that pulled out to come back. "Saftey First" - in the words of Reed!

Good job for Reed to pull out, great horsemanship in her.

In the photo of Kent on COTH's facebook feed you can see some awfully big studs in those shoes.

This story says they did no live stream or spectator access in order to keep the event "exclusive." VIP seats only. Unless you had a boat handy.

Maybe a group can rent a party boat next year.

“It’s a very good root system, but it’s not meant for horses,” Trump said. He said that for next year’s event, they might expand the ring, flatten the ground, and work with footing specialists to improve the ground.

That is according to the COTH article. I bet with those fixes they can get the same types of riders!
