Thanks for the reminder... the week got away from me and I almost forgot.
I do recordings for my youngsters as a way to confirm ages and bloodlines since I don't register all of them. It also allows me to keep track of their performance. I guess I've been lucky as only one has had a name change so far and his owner did it properly.

I wish someone had told me this last year! Is there any advantage for recording a yearling vs. two year old?

Yes. The price goes up each year until age 3.

$85 dollars for a yearling
$165 for a two year old
$200 for three and older
So yes a savings still

For those who haven't yet received their registration papers for weanlings, USEF will take a Coggins as proof of age.

Can you tell by looking at this if I did it for a lifetime or just for the year last year?

Coggins as proof of age? I put 'pending' on the 'Breed Registry Number' - that won't be good enough?

Laurierace, it looks like the horse has a number ONLY and does not have annual or lifetime recording--it says "horse ID only."
Lifetime will say "life" under membership type.

I use a copy of my vet's foal exam form as it has all of the dates and breeding info included. If for some reason I don't have the form, USEF has always accepted a copy of the foal exam invoice.

Good to know, Tuckaway. I don't worry, as AHS has me covered.

I register mine while it's only $35 also, and I handle the transfers for the buyers when I sell my foals.
The $35 foal registration fee might be the most reasonable fee anyone will ever pay in a horse's lifetime, lol!

Does USEF membership have to be current for it to count?

I stuck mine in the mail since it says payment must accompany the form and I didn't want to put it on the credit card. Hopefully that is good enough.

I am sending mine in today!
So why is the silver stirrup so much more expensive?
I bred mine so he is American bred and it would be nice to get the awards, so I did pay the one year fee, just curious about the program.
