Cool I'm having a serious work/office problem UPDATE 12/12/13: BAD THINGS STILL HAPPENING

There's way too much holiday junk food in my office and its driving me CRAZY, becaue the only way I know to cope with junk food cravings is to eat ALL THE THINGS until they are gone.

My glucose level must be off the charts, and I'm pretty sure my pancreas is pumping out so much extra insulin that it's going to go on strike soon. But I still want ALL THE COOKIES.

Also, my liver hurts from all the wine this weekend, but that's a whole other story.

Gimme those cookies. And those Fannie May candies.

    Ugh.

OMG, I was eyeballing the Christmas chocolates a coworker gave me and said to myself, "Self, you should read this thread about someone else's drama instead of eating that chocoloate!"

Now look what you have done to me!

    Bwahahahaha!!!!!

The Fannie May (Mae?) White Chocolate Mints are going to be the death of me. I've even tried calling it "Snowman Poop" to make it less appealing....doesn't work.

Enjoy your treats for me. We're out over here, and I am having a major sugar craving So justify it as "there are those workers doing without this season" haha. Enjoy!

Because it is a rule of Christmastime that you MUST have the most fattening, sugary, disgusting (delightful!) treats in your house and/or office at all times from mid-November to mid-January.

A friend recently read a book describing some people are "moderators" (ie, can do things in moderation) and others are "abstainers" (ie, it's easier to abstain than do things in moderation).

Clearly I'm an abstainer. I can't have just one bite, one cookie, etc. But if I never start I can control myself so much better (not perfect, but better).

So...maybe you need to totally abstain!!!
From now on, ponyfixer, i'll include foot note references.

This is really interesting. I'm with you in the abstainers camp. Work room was full of treats last week, I brought Greek yogurt.

lol, me too. I was gifted with all kinds of chocolate goodies for Christmas, and I just keep nibbling at it, thinking, well, when this is all gone, I can start eating better again...

    It's happening again.

Just got a big box of Lindor truffles from a client. With a note that said "blah blah blah, a donation has been made in your name to the American Cancer Society" which is absolutely lovely.

But then why the chocolates?!?! Just make a bigger donation and don't send the chocolates!!!!!

And seriously, this box of truffles is 18" x 24". Huge. OMG.

    Help.

You need to work in an office with a large number of freeloaders and gluttons . I do...no food lasts long at all. Some coworkers will even take doggy bags home while taking more than their share. All I have to do is stay away from the treats for 30 minutes or so and they'll be GONE.

I even have a cube neighbor who will steal treats that people leave for me, on my desk, as payback for favors. Last Christmas, I worked from home one day and a visiting coworker from another state lefts a bag of homemade cookies on my desk for me...came in the next morning and they weren't there. Yep, neighbor ate them all before I even saw them .

I don't get mad about it, I'd otherwise eat it all!

Your office obviously needs more young college interns who will hoover up any thing that resembles free food in about 0.5s flat.

From the title, I expected DISASTER! DRAMA! TMI!

But no, it's a Lindt, Hershey's, Archway, Ding Dong, Peppermint Bark kind of thread. Yum and dread. Yep - its that time of year.

Thanks for a nice spin on a serious topic!
