I love my foam roller.
I got it for Christmas. It is wonderful and horrible all at the same time. But I feel great!!

I adore mine as well. I use it whenever my body feel out of whack ( daily) and while it hurts like crazy, it does make me feel better, AFTER I'm done. Best thing I got for Christmas last year!

What is this mystical piece of equipment? I suffer too from daily out-of-whackness!

I love mine & hate it at the same time. One of my friends recently suggested I also get a rumble roller. It looks torturous (but intriguing!).
Champ....a foam roller is a piece of dense foam that you use for self myofascial release. It's sort of like the poor man's massage.

Ow!Ow!Ow! God how it hurts, especially when I've not used it in ages. And then I feel so much better.

Mine helps a lot. It was recommended by a chiro who does ART muscle work. I really do feel better if I stretch my back daily.

I got one of these for myself and one for a friend for Christmas I love the video posted - that will help! Does anyone else have problems with your hair getting caught (ouch, ouch, ouch) when you use it towards your mid or upper back?

Well here's a good reason for OT days....I have rotten myofascial tightness all the time and never heard of this roller. I saw the title and thought someone really liked painting, LOL!
Will be looking into this. I have a bunch of stretches and exercises for myo release that I got from the PT and those are a big help. A few of them I'm supposed to use a rolled up blanket, this looks a lot more convenient.
Where does one buy these?

I love mine. I should use it more often. I've also used it during pilates classes to either assist in learning new moves or make moves more challenging.

You can buy them at most sporting goods stores (Dick's Sporting Goods, Academy Sports, Sports Authority, etc.) or a gazillion places online. They generally come in two lengths...I have a shorter one (that's only about 12" in length) that I travel with.

I'm training for a full marathon, so I pretty much live on my foam roller on my rest days. My quads and calves are the two areas that have the most 'knots' that I have to work out. I learned a pretty painful, but incredibly effective, trick to working out the quads.
When I roll the quads and find a tweaky spot, I'll stop and stay on that spot. Then, I'll bend my leg so my knee makes a 90 degree angle and then lower it slowly. By contracting the muscle with the ''tension" in it and then releasing the contraction, it feels as though the foam roller digs into that spot even more. HURTS LIKE HELL during the move, but afterwards it's heaven!

I got mine at Marshall's for $15! And I'm going to find a shorter one, now that I know there is a "travel size!"
I went and got a massage yesterday, and then I "foam rolled". Guess which helped more?! That sucker is amazing.
I had picked one up with little nubbies on it and my mom was like "Yeah... you're not going to want those... it hurts enough without them..."

Rumble Roller should have a required ownership law.
It will change your life if you live through the first few weeks with it.
Prepare to break into a sweat and weep.

What are favorite exercises with the roller? Or, does anyone know of a site that lists good exercises?
