Thanks :-) I think so too. I'm looking for some pics from his college days - that cadet uniform was awfully nice to look at. I think it was even better than the dress uniform is now... but no complaints from me, I love him in any outfit.

Definitely! After he retired, we had a company that did UXO removal here in the states and overseas (Iraq). EOD guys are crazy, but they are the most loyal, steadfast guys on the planet.

One thing you learn quickly, an EOD husband is impossible to argue with. They are trained to tune out EVERYTHING while doing disposal. This carries into their personal lives. I could nag and argue all day and he would tune me out completely. Hence, why we are now divorced!

Are you sure he could even hear you?

Mr. Heinz did security for an EOD team while he was in Iraq, among other things. One of his best friends was actually EOD in the Navy, also. They're good people, and his wife is a force to be reckoned with.

My son in-law is a Marine and is closer to my age than his father...lol. I feel like a dirty old woman when he comes to visit because he is simply yummy...just like his dad!! He's on leave from his third tour in a very, very bad place, so I let him use my Corvette during his stay. Let me tell you, had I known the amount of hugs I would have gotten from him using my car, I would have let him take it a long time ago!

I have always had a thing for a man in uniform (my DH was a Fire Fighter/Medic for 18 years), my ex-husband was a Fire Fighter. I dated multiple Fire Fighters. Oh my, I need a glass of wine thinking about all this!!

You're absolutely right...both husbands were hard of hearing! Bombs and helicopters will do that to you. I actually have partial hearing loss in one ear due to being a little too close to an explosion.

THE DEPLOYMENT 'STACHE!! My husband had one of those... *sigh*. I don't miss it, but always giggle when I see a military man with one.

My Marine got rid of all of his uniforms when he left the service. Grr!! I do have some pictures but he was very young in the (18...he's now 30).

He looks like such a widdle guy!

my DH sent home pics from Iraq of him with a completely shaved bald head, and a deployment 'stache. I know they get bored over there but dear God, that was NOT attractive on him AT ALL. (His hair is a very distinguished salt and pepper - his mustache was NOT. For some reason it grows in red and blonde?!?!) It's hard for him to be unattractive but that was pretty bad. He agreed and couldn't stop laughing at how he looked.

I am no fan of the deployment facial hair unless it is necessary for some strategic reason.

Is this code for "Hitler 'stache"? Has Mr. outside_line seen the HBO miniseries Operation Kill? Mr. Heinz loves it. There's a bit about facial hair and the Hitler 'stache in one of the episodes we just finished watching.

Mine can't even grow a mustache, I'm thankful for the little things in life, the one time he tried it was so pathetic he decided it wasn't worth it

My husband can't grow a mustache either - but he tried it again when he was home. Stupidly, I said, "maybe if you dye it?" and he tried that. IT WAS BAD. VERY BAD. We laughed and laughed about it. He shaved it off and no more attempts have been made.

Haven't seen it, Heinz - I try to steer clear of anything that will put ideas into his (handsome, salt and pepper) head! He swears he's going to grow a full beard when he retires but I think his DNA has other plans.

My husband grows that much mustache within 2 days..

What the heck is with them bicking their heads and having that mustache??

It made him look like a really weird cross between a skinhead and Hitler...

He is out of the Marine Corps now and finally has stopped getting high and tight haircuts. Woot! Way to reintegrate into society...

Of course, he now works in a jail, so just swapping one group of people for another. He preferred the Iraqis to the people here. :P
