I'm probably misreading this but wanted to point out that you should cool your horse down from blowing and sweating before you get off. Walking around until he's stopped blowing and stopped sweating helps him recover without bringing on a lot of other problems. After that it's fine to put him in a stall with hay.
I put my tack away, change my boots and then give him a good rub down. Then, if it's a hot day, I rinse him off. Then it's either turn out or back in with his hay. Just a snack size flake....we have to carefully watch our boys weight.
I've always read that your suppose to wait an hour before and after exercise to feed. When I first get to my barn it usually takes me an hour to get all my chores done before riding so I feed first. (Thats when I get there in ther evening)
