A little background on my little guy. He was born 5 weeks early and has been a very sick little boy. He had abd surgery at one month of age and almost died at that time. His lungs do not function well and he can't play like normal kids his age without getting out of breath and coughing to the point of vomiting. He LOVES all animals, so this summer, I bought him 72 peeps. Almost all of them lived, so we now have 70 chickens running around for him to pet and play with. Ryan also adores horses. This child has no fear! When we brought Deka (the pony) home for Christmas, Ryan was happy just to have another horse on the farm. It was too cold to let Ryan ride yesterday (we did Christmas on Christmas eve), but Friday is going to be nice, so we're going to let Ryan ride Deka then. For Christmas, Ryan got a saddle, bridle, halter, leathers, stirrups, a show and a schooling helmet, a show outfit, and a child-size grooming box. He also got about 100 other toys!! I went over-board, but I feel so bad for him that he can't be a "normal" child. His first year of life, he ended up in the hosptial almost monthly. As he's gotten older, he's not quite as frail, but he's still limited physically. Not only did I want fancy (this pony has a LOVELY head...just fuzzy right now), but I wanted SAFE. It is really hard to find small, fancy, quite, and loves kids. Deka is the whole package, so I lucked out!!

So, that is the background on WHY I spent two month's wages on a Christmas present.

That looks like a very nice pony. Good call on going for a well bred pony , they can be so awesome just as a buddy for a child.

leadline is a perfectly justifiable reason for having children. Cutest. Pony. Ever.

Frankly, I can't think of a better reason. Your lucky little boy deserves all the fun he's going to have with his charming pony.

Congrats on your adorable little pony!! I too got my 3 1/2yr daughter her first pony this Christmas as well....I've been dreaming of this day long before she was ever born!
What type of leadline saddle leathers and girth did you get? I just got the wintec leadline saddle package...I can't really figure out if I've put the webbers/leathrs on correctly bc they appear to be too long?? They are designed to go with this leadline saddle...but maybe I just don't have them on properly?
    Any suggestions/recommendations greatly appreciated! Thanks
