    Default finest romance writers

    Julia Quinn
    Anne Gracie
    Samantha Grace
    Liz Carlyle
    Jo Beverley
    Kasey Michaels
    Georgette Heyer
    Lecia cornwell
    Mary Balogh
    Mary Jo Putney
    Judith James
    Sophie Nash
    And sometimes, Sabrina Jeffries

I find their stories fun and set in a foreign enough time and country, I don't have to be overly critical about details

Love Georgette Heyer! From there I moved on to Mary Balogh, now been reading a lot of Julia Quinn and some Eloisa James. Good to have this list... I generally like the Regency/Georgian era the best...

Ah, Georgette Hyer, my first. LOL. My sister had "These Old Shades" and then I found more in my high school library. They were perfect reading while half listening in class. I still think " oh this GH story line or that one" when I read others.

LOVE Georgette Heyer! After her, it's more an individual book sort of thing. I've read and reread Stitch In Snow by Anne McAffrey (of Dragonrider fame). Precious Bane is another favorite of mine, along with Jane Eyre, another Pride and Prejudice.

Jill Mansell and Katie Fforde--both are British and very clever writers, Susan Elizabeth Phillips and my new favorite, Suzanne Enoch.

    Every writer listed, I like.
And out of date romance writers. Elisabeth Cadell and Mary Stewart. Just to ad to the list.

I used to really like Georgette Heyer and Mary Stewart too.

Another author I read recently and enjoyed is Kathleen Valentine.

    Also Maeve Binchey (sp)?

I don't know that I would call her a romance writer but I have always adored Maeve Binchy's books. I'm sorry that there will be only one more coming.
