I wanna be the crazy cat lady - just me and the cats again. Because of the weather, we postponed our get-together, it is just too cold and too much snow. We're shooting for Sunday. The old kids missed me last night but they also understand that I don't do screaming babies very well, so we started a new tradition a few years ago - Boxing Day for adults only and we eat stuff that kids don't much like. Last year was moose roast, this year will be elk or bison or maybe upland game birds. Oh well, it will not go bad in the freezer until the weather warms up to a more civilised temperature somewhere above -25°F

Alone and okay with it. I've got my kitties, my newish dog and a warm fire. I'm cooking a small turkey, and picked up some fresh dungeness crab and champagne.

None of my friends know I'm choosing to spend it alone since I have family within an hour's drive, but I just can't deal with family after the incredilby rough year I've had. I know that if my friends knew I was going to be alone, I would have multiple invitations to join them and that warms my heart.

As Clarance the Angel wrote: "No man is a failure who has friends".

Merry Christmas to all my COTH friends!

    Well.....
It wasn't planned this way, but my GTG got cancelled.
The host landed in the ER with a bad reaction to a new med.
His brother called about 20min before I was ready to head for his place.
New plan is to re-schedule for NYE.

So I now have Yellowbritches crockpot recipe from this OT forum working and am back in my jammies searching for something interesting to watch on network TV.

Sun is out and I can see my horse & pony "grazing" and chickens scratching in their yard so I an justify lazing on the couch myself.
    Until it's time to feed.

Yes, but not upset over it. I'm enjoying a quiet day at home with the animals (mine plus farmsitting for two of the neighbors). Had an invite to Christmas dinner but it was a hundred mile round trip so I didn't want to do that. Besides, it's snowing so hard traveling would be an absolute nightmare today. I did have a nice Christmas Eve dinner with friends last night though.
