Default Hey, the red thumbs are gone!

I just noticed the absence of the obnoxious red thumb and all I can say is

But strangely only ~400 votes were collected in the poll

What, now we have to go back to saying "You're a bloody idiot!" the old fashioned way??

Just further affirmation that in our society people can't take criticism or disagreement. We should put a ribbon icon on the bottom so people can click it and that way everyone gets a ribbon.

If they were going to have a red finger icon that meant I disagree with you, it needed to be the middle finger or nothing.

I will confess right here and now that I "liked" FitToBeTied's post in this thread.

    If it was 'just that.'

But it got taken and used beyond just red thumbing 'a' post by the people who can't play fair. If it was used judiciously then it would be meaningful. When someone goes back into a poster's history and RTs everything then it's stalking and bullying.

If the wording was "agree" or "disagree" I would've been more for it .... but "good" and "bad" are not the best ways to rate posts, IMHO.

Good riddance. If they had made it so you had to own it, instead of anonymous, that would have been OK. Glad it's gone--now when I see a "notification" it means someone with a name wants to communicate with me one on one.

I'm glad the red thumbs are gone. If I make a suggestion, and you think it is wrong, I want to know why it is wrong. I also would like some evidence as to why it is wrong, not just a red thumb. Tell me that the wound care product I am using causes liver problems and is on the FDA watch list, or whatever. The red thumb wasn't helpful.

Since it was anonymous, it was just too easy for people to be bullies about it. Since the votes were NOT anonymous, only 400 people showed up for the poll... That pretty much sums it up for me.

When some people can 'act out' without repercussions on themselves, it makes it too easy. Sad that it is easier for people to be nasty than it is to be honest.

Arrrrrr, I red thumb at you!!! Did people seriously cry into their pillows that an interwebz person gave them a red thumb? For the record, JWB, I totally "liked" your red middle finger suggestion.

Good. Now if they'd just get rid of the green thumbs, we'd be set. This is COTH, NOT Facebook (thank goodness). My reason for disliking them is not that I'm afraid to get "red thumbed" (it's gonna catch on folks, just wait, lol), I just think it's lazy. If you like/dislike a post, write why you agree or disgree, I don't buy the "it's easier, I don't have time".

what i find really interesting is that, as far as i can tell - the activity of thumbing has come to a screeching halt once they removed the ability to red thumb.

    i find that fascinating!
