(Posters who frequent the H/J board, please forgive me for gushing again!) I was just given the most lovely, lovely portrait of my wonderful little Connie/TB cross, whom I lost in 2010 - the real Small Change. Gina Hawkshawk did the most fantastic job with it, capturing my little horse right down to the last detail. I am so grateful to her for her beautiful work, and especially to my Dad for masterminding the project.

I had a portrait of my old Standardbred mare, Samantha, done this year. The artist's style is a bit different so it's more of an illustration. We worked together on lay-out quite a bit since it wasn't a straight photo to canvas piece, but rather we used several photos of the farm along with one of the horse and put them together in a pleasing manner.

    Hope this works:

I love Ramie's use of color and texture and was familiar with her work already.

She's got an etsy shop for prints not shown on her websites, I have the "ikebana" print shown here, too:

I have a head and neck of The Pony in pastels that a barn friend did for my daughter a few years ago. I like it, it's a little impressionistic and the background colors are a bit wild but it's really well done and captures The Pony's personality.

I used to board at the same barn as Beth Parcell-Evans and she does amazing work. A few boarders had portraits done by her and were thrilled by how she captured their animals' personalities. I understand there is a waiting list, but once she starts your painting she doesn't take long to finish.

If you are interested in a pencil drawing, can I recommend Carol Foerster. http://www.facebook.com/#!/carolsartsite
She works from photographs and does wonderful work.
She visited me earlier this year and took some photographs. Today she posted the drawing that she did of our dog Dash.
You can find other examples of her work here.

I've done a number of portraits for folks but I don't really advertise. A couple of notable subjects were Funny Cide's Kentucky Derby (commissioned by Jose Santos' agent), and Volponi in the Breeders Cup Classic (commissioned as a gift for P.G. Johnson).
I'm usually too busy with my real job to do much art except in the winter months. Here's a link to some of my work: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1921699&type=3
