I'm trying to research some specific pony hunter stallions. I've looked up pedigrees, so I'm good there, but wondering what traits and characteristic these guys pass along. I've read some nice things about all of them, but I'm curious about the following:
Llandefalle Better By Far
Tustin's Bandoleer (assuming he's live cover only?)
Rocky Rabbit (is he still available? Anyone know his fee - he's listed as private treaty)
You might look into Willow Hill equestrian in Orange Va. I do not breed to him nor have any stake in it, but they have a really nice German riding Pony that has gorgeous movement and has babies on the ground. I've seen him and his temperament is great too.
RIP Kelly 1977-2007 "Wither thou goest, so shall I"
"To tilt when you should withdraw is Knightly too."
Lots of ponies get PR due to color, lots of advertising, etc. but unless they are proven in the genre you are interested in (meaning if you're breeding for pony hunters, what have they sired that has won in good company at the big shows), I'd go with one that has a proven track record.
I know you're asking about specific pony stallions here, so look to see what they've sired that wins in good company. If their get are consistent winners, then go with that. Winning on the line does not constitute good performance pedigree.
When you look up a pedigree, go to Progeny to see who they sired.
