Schooling show safety practices/procedures, anyone have a template?
I'm posting this to the dressage forum because that is the type of show I'm concerned with -- I'm looking for broad general guidelines/best practices for medical and other emergencies at horse shows, something that could be shared in a manual for volunteer schooling show managers. I have found some things in 4-H show manuals but wonder if anyone has examples to share from their GMO or from other small athletic events. The kinds of emergencies I'm thinking of include:
--rider fall w/moderate to serioius injury
-- spectator injured (e.g., on bleachers)
-- sudden adverse weather conditions
-- what, if any, first aid should be part of the show's supplies
I am an eventer-- but when we host a schooling horse trials we pay for an EMT to be present with their equipment. (I think actually we make a donation to the local volunteer fire station and they send someone.)
