26 Acts of Kindness to Honor Those Lost In Newtown, CT

While I can't be there in CT to help anyone there specifically, I can aspire to perform 26 acts of kindness to honor those lost Friday in such a tragic incident and I challenge you to do the same.
I began with donating to the Animal Center in Catherine Violet Hubbard's memory. See this thread in Off Course for details:

Another thread is http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/sh...martpak-enough where I discovered additional options for acts of kindness by a COTHer and Smartpak. I also found a link (http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/har...90#fbLoggedOut) provided by COTHer GoshenNY to Jessica Adrienne Rekos' obituary where it suggested memorial donations could be sent to the Newtown Rotary Sandy Hook School Fund.
Again, I would encourage and challenge everyone to find a way to perform 26 acts of kindness in honor of those lost. Perhaps it won't happen in a day, a week or even a month as it can take some thought and time to find the things that speak to you and encourage you to act and that's okay, too.. Perhaps it will relate directly to the children or staff lost such as a donation to the Animal Shelter in Catherine's name, but perhaps it will be something local to you and that's okay. There's so much we can't do in this tragic situation, but we can honor others with kindness wherever it is.

We warmbloods did some nice things for others (including cothers) before the shooting. And we've done some good things after the shooting.
It should not take a tragedy like the shooting to prompt someone to do good acts. While we don't have the bumpersticker, we've always liked the "I do random acts of kindness" bumper sticker.
But if this tragedy does make people want to do acts of kindness, remember not to stop at 26. The possibilities are limitless and some things don't require a lot of money.
(Ok so we do some bad things, but not really bad things. Taking down part of the fence was not our fault! Someone planted rye grass a couple of feet away from our pasture. We can't eat rye grass, but it is so tempting that we had to try. Our owner had to nail those 2 rails back into the posts.)
