Star Trek Into Darkness!
Anyone else looking forward to this? It looks like a very heavy remake/reinterpretation of The Wrath of Khan storyline.

Oh, yes. I am definitely looking forward to it.
I've heard the rumors that the villain in the movie is going to be Kahn, but I'm skeptical. But, I don't care what they do as long as it's done well.

I'm definitely seeing it in IMAX. I just hope it goes someplace fresh cause the last one was not so good.

The first 9 minutes of Star Trek is being shown as an extended trailer at the front of The Hobbit in Imax.
For those with questionable morals you can find it bootlegged online.

Okay, I had no interest in seeing The Hobbit. But if there is a Star Trek trailer, I gotta go!!

I am very excited. I was reluctant at best about the last one as that's MY Trek you're messing with (Movie!Original Crew.) But about the time Bruce Greenwood showed up I was starting to think okay, this might not be so bad, and then as they arrived at the Enterprise I was basically "Okay, J.J. Abrams is my master now."
Best/saddest is Karl Urban as McCoy. Reportedly Leondard Nimoy teared up the first time he heard him in-character on the set as it was so much like DeForest Kelly.

Me too, somehow I missed it. Time to have a chat with my boss as her DH is an author a writer of several Star Trek books and she has not said a word about it.

There are several recent Trek authors living on the East Coast. Right now, I'm eagerly awaiting the next TNG book from David Mack, who lives in NYC.

I hadn't heard that, but I can believe it. Karl Urban's performance was so understated and so perfect!
I am such a Trekkie its not even funny, so I'm super excited to see where this one is going, especially with Benedict Cumberbatch in it. Anyone know when I can start buying advance tickets?

Benedict Cumberbatch AND Star Trek? I'm in love with Moffat's Sherlock right now. Vulcan nerve pinch me, somebody. Wake me up when the movie comes out. Gonna be a long winter to wait for this.

You can read the prequel literature. There are some comics and a book or two coming out before the film.

I confess, I liked the last one. And the trailer for the new one looked pretty interesting...

Not a trekki myself, but Benedict Cumberbatch??? Sign me up! I know he isn't traditionally handsome, but there's something about him... makes me want to flip my mane around like a horse in a calendar. Hehe.
MrB's attempt at talking like a horse person, "We'll be entering in the amateur hunter-gatherer division...."
