I agree with Windsor, gofor - lovely post!
Some of the threads on all the OT days make me sad and worried, it's good to try to take something positive from them too.
I am in southern Ontario, not much thrilling around here, but I am always happy to talk about horses, books, movies...

I am in Central PA, and am happy to connect with COTHers. All the ones I've met thus far in person outside my area have been delightful!

And To the Max is absolutely right...lots of Amish folks, not much else! I only have one big fat horse at the moment, but I'm always game to do horsey or non horsey things.

I live just east of Asheville, NC and am game to meet up and do non-horsey things. I don't have one of my own but do work part time for a lovely lady that has 5 and get my fix that way. ; )

Always up for having a cup of coffee or going for a nice walk. Lots of nice places to go around here. Dupont, Blue Ridge Parkway, etc..

A couple of my favorite people are folks I met on a BB first. In fact, most of "my" guests at my wedding were people I met online originally, then in person later.

I agree with Bluey in meeting somewhere public at first. But frankly, if you're not willing to take a little risk in meeting new people, you never meet new people!

I'm in NoVa now, Springfield/Burke area.

I'm meeting a COTHer today, she's going to ride my mare. There's another COTHer who lives nearby that I am excited to meet when our schedules collide. I got to meet Lex.

Funny story...when I lived in MI, I was attending a veterinary seminar. I was in line for the ladies room during a break and chatting (with strangers). A moment later, someone said, "BuddyRoo, is that you?" Ha! She "recognized" me from the way I was talking based on my posting "voice" on another horse board. We'd never spoken before, so it wasn't my voice. Long and short, we became friends. She even kept my horses for a bit.
A good horseman doesn't have to tell anyone...the horse already knows.

Might be a reason, never an excuse...

I saw a couple other people who said they were in Asheville... we could do a meet halfway kind of NC meetup
I've heard there's more to life than an FEI tent and hotel rooms, so I'm trying it.

I've gotten a bunch of PMs, and have tons of people to add on Facebook.

You know, just living up to my rep as a member of the hellspawn generation!

Boston folks: I'm totally down for a MA meetup! I'm 1.5 hours away and have tons of friends in the city I can stay with.

There's plenty of places to meet up in between Boston and Amherst, we will definitely have to get on this after the holidays! Are you "findable" on FB? I have mine set to private but would definitely add you!

There are definitely more than 3 of us - they just "hang out" in the Eventing/Dressage/HJ forums.

I know of at least two more, but I know that they don't post on the regular.

    Any real/fake Texans?

Moved to Austin a few months ago and finally have some type of transportation (Car2Go) so I'm dying for a horse fix and to meet new people!

Please give me an alternative to book club...

I'm in Western NY and always game to meet new people. My very most favorite restaurant in the whole world is a little Italian place called Otto Tomatto's, near Victor, NY. I've often thought it would be a cool place for a COTH get together and a chance for some of us to get together on neutral territory (Bluey is right about meeting and getting to know people first before you give out too much information).

    Great thread!
DuPont is absolutely gorgeous! I've never ridden there but I've hiked there several times. That water feels sooo good on the hot summer days.

You've gots lots of places to ride close by - DuPont, Turkey Pen, N. Mills River - too many to list! lol

I saw a couple other people who said they were in Asheville... we could do a meet halfway kind of NC meetup

We should - I'm sure we could find a good halfway spot for all of us.
