    Default Shipping a tack trunk?

I seem to be full of questions today....!

I have found a tack trunk on craigslist that I'd like to buy. It is about 4 hours from my show trainer's barn and about 7.5 hours from me. Obviously not the easiest thing to run and pick up. Is there a recommended freight company that could ship this trunk to my trainer's? About how much does this usually run?

I'm wondering myself... (Although mine is many states away.)

Anyone know anything about Greyhound freight? http://www.shipgreyhound.com/

A friend of mine recommended Equine Express. She said you can sometimes get cheap rides for tack trunks if they already have a horse on a route in the same area. I called them last night....

Interesting—report back with what you find out! My trunk would be coming from about 30 miles from EE's headquarters, but I'm not sure how many routes they're running up north this time of year.

Maybe the people selling the trunk will meet you half way.

fed ex, The seller can pad it with an old blanket or styrofoam build a box around it , pad it again and build another box around it , seal w/ lots of packing tape , than ties a cross over poly cord so it can be easily lifted .. measure it weigh it then call fed ex or go online.. I shipped one for about $65.00 . It is a lot of work to pack it. took me over an houir once I found all the material. You can take it to Pak and ship UPS store but I bet it willcost over $150.00 for them to pack and ship .

There will be a big difference between a small trunk and a large one. The small ones can go UPS, but the larger ones usually need to go by freight. Depending on which one you are talking about, I'd just call a few companies and ask for a quote. I doubt the seller is going to be willing to build a crate for shipping.

EE said 50 dollars to ship the trunk for me. No special packing required either! Not sure if it would be more for a longer distance, however I don't think it would be based on my conversation with them.
