Thumbs up GREAT news about Ram Tap!!

    It's not closing!!

This is not a rumor, I take a lesson from Brian Sabo once a month, and when I told him how sad I was about it closing, he confirmed it's not!

The land was bought by someone who intends to keep running horse trials. The original guy, whose name escapes me, will stay on to help transition the new owner as well as help with course design.

So this November will not be the end of Ram Tap. Hooray!!

Default Oh I hope its true!

While I really hope it is true, I do not think they can "buy the land" - the land has been LEASED for the horse park:

Burton leases the land for the 140-acre riding complex from Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and the flood control district.....

Instead, Burton said, it's the hardship and expense of relocating the stables.....

Burton said the stables stand where the flood control district intends to dig its new ponding basin -- something he has known was in the works for more than a decade.
Burton estimated it would cost between $70,000 and $100,000 to relocate the stables to higher ground on another part of the property. "Now it's time for them to start digging," he said, "and at my age it's just going to cost too much and be too much work to move everything."

I DO HOPE that someone is taking over the lease - and will be relocating the stables.

RamTap is very near and dear to me, my first horse trials back in 1989 - Spent many a cold winter schooling XC there, many a hot summer at pony club rallies - and of course the horse trials - and who can forget spending their Thanksgiving in Fresno during the fall horse trials

I don't know any of the details, only that I had a fairly long discussion with Brian about it this afternoon.

The new guy is said to be very nice and is excited about continuing the regular schedule of horse trials. I'm fairly certain Brian wouldn't have said it's going to continue if it weren't. I think this is all fairly new because he said they only have until the end of October to confirm next year's schedule, which will now include Ram Tap.

I really hope that's true, but I don't know. The land is a lease, so nothing really to "purchase" so to speak. But I will be there this weekend and I will find out and post a report back!!!! :-)

Sadly he came up lame at Ram Tap last year and has since retired as a result

Been looking for a replacement for almost a year with no luck! Perhaps in the spring - he is one in a million. Blah.

Just saw the news posted on Facebook John Marshall has purchased the property and will be continuing to run horse trials there. JM is an Adult Rider from Area VI. The name is changing to Fresno County Horse Park. Plans are in place for a CT in January and they appear to be retaining the former RamTap dates on the USEA calendar. Hooray!

John Marshall has completed the purchase of what is now Fresno County Horse Park (formerly Ram Tap) and Megan McGee has started work as the new Executive Director.

You are correct that we did not buy the land as we will be Tenant's just as Pat & Marion Humphrey as well as Bill & Margaret Burton have been for 57 years.
