Once a day I would let her out into the yard. She would eat some grass then come and knock on the patio for her daily belly scratches...

Just when I am convinced there is no place on this earth for me, I am amazed by like-minded people showing up just in time. Thanks to all of you for helping out the critters with snacks and warm places to sleep. This is the tribe I want to belong to.

Although, DH and I have a nice comfy couch, we often find ourselves sitting on the floor in our living room because the dogs have claimed the couch as theirs and will "growl" if you try and move them.
My dogs often eat more of my dinner than I do. I share almost every meal with them. Can't help it. They are adorable.
My lab sleeps in an orthopedic doggy bed with a heated pad next to my bed. She must be able to touch my hand if needed too, so I consequently sleep with my arm draped off the bed.
Beagle sleeps under the covers with his head on my pillow.
Both dogs get "rubbies" every night. They know when it's rubby time and sidle up to me and throw themselves on top of me. Rubbies last for about an hour. Who knew I'd end up a professional doggie masseuse??

I buy canned cat food for the barn cats each week. The cheaper the better - no snobs there! And then I let the barn dog lick out the cat food can after feeding the cats. Everyone is happy (but I admit I have created a monster - it started out innocently enough when I brought out leftover Science Diet Kidney that my indoor cats absolutely.would.not.eat! but barn cats loved it awful foul stuff that it is....)

That sounds like me. I feed the barn cats(3) and 8 ferals canned food, and drive out there each afternoon to feed them. I look like the Pied Piper of cats, as they recognize my car and race behind it to their feeding spot. I also trapped 2 mom cats that had been dumped and each had 3 kittens, spayed/vaccinated them, and spayed the other females, and found homes for 3 of them (8 ferals are left).

I have firmly banned the feeding of random dog treats or people food since day one with my spouse. I've seen what her family does to dogs and I hate fat dogs. But, when she is not looking, I share my dinner with them.

I love this thread! We have an 8 month old baby and she is now too big/too active for the bassinet. The bassinet however is still set up because the cats love sleeping in it and we feel bad about taking it away from them! There is the bassinet part with a nice soft mattress, then there is a middle shelf thing that also has a mattress, and on the bottom are two baskets that we have now placed soft blankets in for the cats. I know we own this house but I'm pretty sure we do not rule it lol.
The one good thing about repeating your mistakes is that you know when to cringe.

My dog eats better than I do too. I feast on Ramen and he gets Earthborn holistic, I make his own treats (grain free of course, all organic and no filler), he also gets a farm fresh raw egg once a week in his breakfast

Oh my! your cats are knock outs! such great coats and with all of them it must be like a choir in our house when they all get going. I love Siamese cats.
