I saw that on FB a little while ago. I took my cat to the vet today and the door broke off the carrier before I even put her in it so I put a collar and a leash on her. I figured she would be easier to catch that way if she got away. Jingles.

Wait a minute - he was just LOOSE in the trailer tackroom????

While this is a terrible situation, why the hell wasn't he in a cat carrier?? Sorry to be the wet blanket, but owner negligence (stupidity?) has a big hand in this tragedy. Not that it helps now, but may help if owner ever travels with another pet.

Jingles! Kitty is probably very close to escape point and hiding...any chance of getting a tracker dog in there? There are people who track lost pets for a living with bloodhouds etc...

The same thing happened to my daughter's trainer when they moved from one barn to the other at the end of October. Mommy Cat was in a carrier in the horse trailer with her kittens... one window was open in the trailer. when they took the carrier out, still closed... no mommy cat! They searched when they went back to the old barn for another load... no mommy cat. The kittens are safe at the new barn. They still can't figure out how mommy cat got out of the carrier.
