For Those Who Like the Icky, Oozy and Pus Filled Wounds, This is the Granddaddy!
I watched a horse blooper video on youtube and you know how they suggest other videos? This is one that was suggested. It is gross, just sayin' but for those of you who always want to know if a wound has pus, this one did. Holy moly did it have pus! What causes something like this? It is an abcess of some kind but how do these start?

Wow. The size of that made me think there might have been something in there, like a splinter of wood. Would wood show up on an ultra sound?

What does it say about me that I'm eating cottage cheese for breakfast while watching this, and still thought it was awesome (and finished my breakfast)

On one of my midnight adventures I saw that one but I think I bailed after the first lump. There are a couple, the one I watched during the same time frame had some pretty high speed/distance fluid action.I could make a guess as to why they start but truthfully I'm baffled as to how they get so BIG - unless the horses are out at pasture or unhandled and it takes a wobbling bowl of Jello hanging off them to get attention. Ick!

I watched the whole thing and WHOA that thing was HUGE!
I kept thinking that the horse was being VERY good about the whole thing. I'm sure it was sedated, but still, that had to be painful, even under sedation. I'm glad that the vet was able to help that poor pony!

My thoughts exactly--a VERY tolerant horse. Poor thing. I've never seen anything quite like that. Hope it was on the mend quickly.

Seen it before, I think part of it was on Tosh.0, which sent me to Youtube to watch it all.
I got bored. "Ohhhhkay, three minutes of pus, nothing new" *click a new video*

Oh, well, clearly you're not thoroughly indoctrinated to COTH yet, because finger pointing and drawing conclusions are the cornerstones of this great online community. (Tidy Rabbit)

I bet the vet didn't expect it to be that big, otherwise why didn't he wrap the tail first? Just imagine having to wash all that goop out of that tail. Blech!

I was worried that would happen. Let me see if I can grab a screen cap.
Awful pics, sorry:
Poor boy.
How do you let something get that big?
Nasty!
There was 20L of pus in there!
(Pics are from Rolf's Animal Clinic and are not mine. I'll pull them at some point.)
