I've never had such a difficult time finding the right sized blankets for a horse as I'm having with my OTTB mare. With my other horses, I could consistently order the same size blankets, regardless of brand and they fit. I don't know if it's because my girl is narrow that the blankets fit odd or what.
Here's my "run down" of what sizes I've tried in each brand:
Flex Rider/Gladiator sheet in size 75 fits perfectly.
Weatherbeeta cooler in 75 fits perfectly.
Amigo blankets in 75 hang WAY past her butt--need to try a 72.
Schneiders winter blanket in 76 is a bit large, but will still work (probably should have bought a 74).
Country Pride winter blanket (Big Dee's) size 74 fits great.
McAlister size 74 is WAY too small--maybe need a 76 or even a 78.
UGH--frustrating. Is this a typical discrepancy in sizing of blankets/sheets? When I find good deals on horse clothes I like to purchase them but am getting annoyed with how differently each of the brands fits my mare. At least now I know what sizes to get in these brands but am reluctant to try another brand since I don't know how it will fit.
