Very sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is. Sounds a lot like the old guy I was talking about in my post earlier. He wasn't that bad for the first 24 hrs just mildly but never went back to normal really that's why we took him.

I'm so sorry for your loss. He did live a long time but it just makes it that much harder when you've had them in your life for so long. My guy is 27 and is doing fine now, but I worry over every little thing. At least he didn't suffer for long.
On a side note: I have seen this happen with an older horse and makes me wonder if its just their time and the GI tract is the first thing to shut down.
He had a nice happy life. I am sorry for your loss.
This. We had an old App gelding...verifiabley 39 years old. Not a sick day in his whole life and this is what happened to him. I guess stuff just wears out. Sorry for your loss. At least you were there to help him over the bridge.
I am sorry for your loss. I lost a mare in similar circumstances a few years ago. She was 31. The vet said 3 loops of her intestine were strangulated, either by slipping through a tear in the mesentery or a lipoma.
