Hilda is such an incredibly effective rider. She rode my big boy at a clinic and her effect on him was almost shocking. He was a sensitive boy with big gaits, and he was mesmerized from the moment she picked up the reins-even my trainer wholeheartedly agreed she'd never seen him go better-more relaxed, balanced, full of schwung. And luckily I have it on tape
Hilda is truly one of the greatest dressage treasures we have in the US.
When someone shows you who they are, BELIEVE THEM.
LOL. The saddle looks so tiny compared to what we see today. Although I've only heard her on video, I love Hilda's voice and way of teaching.
Ha! Spend a week riding with her and "love" may take on a new meaning.
I rode in a clinic with Bo Jena last week. I told my trainer that on the one hand, I wish she taught like that every day, and on the other ... I was glad she didn't.
She said we'd all have meltdowns if she did ... and my memory went zinging back to weeks with Hilda. As a teacher she's effective partly because she takes no prisoners. She's effective as a rider, too, partly because she knows when to push and how to reward.
Dressage becomes art when it is a joy for the horse. -KBH
