I will tell a white lie to save someone's feelings, though. Or to save my Dad (89 years old) from unpleasant situations. Ferinstance I made up a reason why Dad, husband and I could not attend a recent festivity at a friend's house because Dad can't stand the friend. Didn't want to tell friend that particular truth!

I don't lie on here - or other places online. I link to photos which go to my FB, so my real identity isn't really hidden. There maybe be people on here that I know in "real life" (I am sure there are some that I am not aware of). I just do not see the need to make crap up.

I always HATED creative writing in school, much preferred to write thesis based essays. I just don't have the type of personality that finds it fun to make stuff up.

No. Not only because I'm usually an honest person (even though I try to be honest always)but because people on line have a very good record of sniffing out a lie. I've seen too many people outed here. It's a fear of shame that has kept me honest all my life. If someone could die of shame, I'm sure I would if I were publicly outed like that.

ETA: I will tell the occasional white lie to protect someone's feelings.

I don't lie because I can't remember well enough for the real stuff, much less keep any lies straight.
I have realized that some times, no matter how truthful something is told, every one reading it then makes their own assumptions.
Later, those come out in the strangest places and reincarnations, the stories changed thru the reader and it's retelling.

Depends on what you consider lying. I will alter details in order to keep a person/location/situation from being clearly identified by people who might recognize them/it. I will also omit/alter information that isn't relevant to the subject at hand in order to avoid writing a big essay that no one has the stamina to read anyway.

Other than the very occasional white lie (to spare someone's feelings), I do not lie. Online or in real life. Although, my screen name is a bit misleading...as I have a registered North American Spotted Draft Horse...I thought that was perhaps a bit too much for a screen name.

My "lies" are more the lies of omission - I leave out my real name, location etc. for some semblance of privacy....
