Also, I love that Thornhill! I'll have to read some reviews on that, seems like exactly what I was looking for. Wonder if they are too bulky and how they hold up??

I have the Thornhll saddle and it is secure, comfortable, and is holding up very well. I did put some synthetic (wintec) stirrup "leathers" on it and they did scratch the leather up some, but it's worth it to not have that extra buckle under my leg.

These saddles are sized a little different than most English saddles, thus if you usually ride in a 17 1/2 or 18", you will want the 19" in the Thornhill.

If you need a wide saddle for a wide horse, it's good to note that this saddle has pretty close contact.. the jist of which means that you do sit very wide.. there is not a narrow "twist" in this saddle. This makes sense, as a narrow twist would put you above the horse more like a western saddle, but it bears mentioning.

This is an excellent deal, I hope someone scoops it up.

there is a farm with a tiny tack shop in a nice lady's backyard a few towns over from me.
she has a few thornhills for sale for outrageously cheap. they are smalls, so good for the under 150lb riders.
i cannot remember her name or farm name, but there is a feed store in vergennes vt who knows her and can provide her contact info i bet.

I agree the twist in this saddle is really wide. Had one and would haveloved it but I would be in pain after a couple of hours and for days after a ride. Other than that very nice.

So i broke down and got the Jill Thomas for only 260.00 w/tags. Always wanted to try it after hearing such positive reviews on here. Could not resist....
