Default Now this mare isn't bad - in training at Catherine Henriquet's Autoillet, France

Post deleted by OP due to advice given by a fellow Cother. Thank you!

No that is one of her working students in the indoor. She's a nice quiet rider. The girl jumping the mare is the same person.

Personally, if I were selling that horse, I'd put a different rider on her.

Agreed. For an 8 year old being ridden in a double I would have expected a more steady connection and work over the topline.

I wasn't impressed either. There were some moments where the mare looked "off" or at least un-rhythmic in her trot?

Agreed! And for a rider to be riding in a double, I'd expect the rider to have good hands.

I couldn't watch the whole thing. Painful to watch, I kept scrunching up my face, and didn't like the feeling it left in my gut.

Why oh why can't people tell when a saddle is sitting on the horse's shoulder?? Especially when there is a trainer involved and they create and upload a video. Maybe that is why the horse looks unhappy, irritated, in pain, and is taking irregular steps.

no connection to the hands the ride is taking no consistent contact, look at the reins flip flopping.

The horse, as presented here looks pretty average. I cannot see how or why it is in a double

Poorly ridden, questionable soundness. The trot to canter transition on the circle at 47 seconds, yikes

Yeah I found the video uncomfortable to watch too. I thought maybe the horse was young (3 or 4), hence the unsteadiness and loss of balance, then noticed it was 8!!! Im suprised a pro would use this vid to advertise a horse, it doesn't make her look like a pleasant ride. I did wonder if it was her first time in a double?? Would rather see her going relaxed in a snaffle, or even just loose for a sales vid though.

    Just to make things clear:

This is an amateur riding her own horse.

We don't know how much lessons she got with C. Henriquet, if she's in full training or if this is once a year lesson.

It's not clear but it appears that this horse is for sale. (there are other videos)

Sorry OP, I really don't understand why you posted that video. Even if you liked the horse/rider/training, it is not fair to this rider/owner and it's some sort of a sale add.

    IMMHO,
Posting your videos to discuss is fine.
Posting Pro videos to discuss is fine.
Posting someone else's video is not fine. (Unless if it present a major accomplishment)
Posting sale adds goes against the board rules.

^crikey Crock, The thread is a train wreck enough already, by my admission, without you adding to the pile. There are so many other more juicy threads out there Go pick on somebody else ...

this is not a train wreck

but when I see something posted as being and example of "nice" " correct" or a freestyle interpretation of the federation rules.....

    and it is clearly lacking

I feel that adding 2 cents is worth it

I still can't tell why the OP posted the video.

I ask only because I don't think the horse is one I'd want. I won't say more as I don't believe in publicly trashing someone else's horse, especially if the thread was started for that purpose and, somehow, I missed that and unknowingly "did some dirty work."

But! In other forums where folks considering horses to purchase put up conformation shots, COTHers have civilized conversations about what they see. And out of that, the OP gains some education. I have learned a lot from those "show and tell" threads, so I hope they can continue.
