Default Deer cause race delay at The Meadows--- Hilarious!!!

Bwahahaha!! Some deer decided to get into the action last night at The Meadows. Make sure your sound is up as Roger Huston the track announcer has some good ones! Normally, it's skunks causing race delays; the deer are *way* more exciting!!!

that was awesome I wish the announcers had actually called their "race" the entire time the deer were on the track... the little bit they did do was hilarious.

Incidentally, is it weird that I kind of want to ride a deer?

Honestly, I think it would be fun- especially when they hit that "bounding" gait (which I think is maybe their equivalent to a horse's gallop?).

I also happen to think they'd make excellent field hunters, and that they would do a bang-up job in the jumper ring

The only issue I can foresee is saddle fit... hmmmm....

I think if you found a saddle made for mules it would probably fit your deer jumper just right

So kind of random because I have never watched a race with horses pulling the carts, but what would happen if the horse deficated? I mean the jockey is right there...

What a great video! And I loved seeing them jump the fence - I agree with ReeseTheBeast - they'd make great field hunters!

LOL, I don't think horses poop at racing speed, and at slow speed gravity pulls the road apples down before they hit the driver.

Honestly, I'm thinking... I've never heard of it happening. I've certainly never seen it. I'm thinking the tail deflects it down.

I'll tell you what happens - liquid sh!t lands in your lap and burns like hell. You get back to the barn, hand the horse to someone, run into the tackroom and change whites before that liquid shit peels all the hide off your leg(s)

Ya think?? They do so poop at racing speeds and that is why there are products like this: http://www.protectohorse.com/bflap.htm that hang on the crupper. In the old days, we had shit towels, and would cover that with plastic film.

Quite likely the horse is wearing a shit towel, although they usually aren't towels now, just an unobtrusive bit of neoprene covering the leaky parts!!!ROFL Those are also used on mares that piss on the driver, another delightful experience
