So who has a large WB with a big shoulder, and what do they wear for a winter blanket?? I need to buy a new one and what fits him best only comes in bright red, which I despise! It's the Shires blanket, anyone have any info on anything comparable?? If not I guess I will have to buy the Shires!
The old Rambo XL fit perfectly, but they don't make them anymore
Yup, ditto here on the Rambo XL. After trying a ton of other clothes on my new, giant-shouldered Friesian x Perch, I bought a Rambo Optimo stable sheet and turnout for her. They've got very, very deep darts that essentially allow the front and back halves to move independently of each other and not pull or bind. They run huge and are spendy, but for my mare the design works brilliantly. The turnouts come with separate liners (100, 200, 300, or 400g) that clip on and can be swapped out. I'm really happy with mine so far -- but of course, the winter's still young!
Try Big D. They're designed primarily for Quarter Horses, many of whom have massive shoulders. They are also more generous in the hip and over the loin.
This. I don't have a WB but I have a bulldog-style QH with linebacker shoulders, so it's the same fit issue. I'd try finding any blanket with a "stock horse cut"/"quarter horse cut". I think Schneider's makes one, as well as maybe Rambo?
Tell a Gelding. Ask a Stallion. Discuss it with a Mare... Pray if it's a Pony!
