Some jingles if you please
It appears that Hennessey caught his leg in the fence this afternoon. One minute he was fine a hour later she went back out to grab someone and he was not fine. He's ripped open a good amount flesh on his left hock. Got a hanging piece of about 4 inches. Wound starts on front and wraps around the outside. Also has a puncture wound going into the joint. He's been wrapped and prepped for the night, in the am I have to decide if he goes in for emergency surgery. He's got a great prognosis's but the expense will be huge, bigger than I can easily decide on. He's my baby... and has made it clear that I am HIS person.
All I want to do is be there but he's 7 hours away. I'm in the last three weeks of the semester and can't go down there until the 8th (and then just for a night) unless I have to to say good bye.
On the positive he's been doing really well (until this afternoon) and has been sounder than ever. He's even learned to go aside.
Tonight he is resting, eating, comfortable and in good spirits.

Many jingles for him and you.
And saying goodbye? No. You go now!
You can do whatever schoolwork online can't you?
I mean, I dunno, but if you can, then you go home to him. You need that as much as he needs his person.
<HUGS>
I\'m not crazy. I\'m just a little unwell.

Sending huge jingles and prayers.
I couldn't tell from your post if a vet cleaned/wrapped him, or someone else... Was it a vet and is he on antibiotics?

Keep em coming!
Thanks everyone keep em coming! Yes vet was out last night. He applied a wet to dry bandage, amount other things. At 9:30 this am he left for the clinic. He's currently tucked into a heated stall there. The puncture wound touches one maybe two joints. I wish I could go right now but I'm a jewelry design (studio) student and final projects are due in two weeks. I wish I could leave right this second but I can't. I'm going to be only 4 hours away next weekend for a family thing and will be driving to him from there. Or I might leave tomorrow evening after class, but trying to hold out till next week, but it's hard!!! He's still in good spirits but mad at the world because his Aunt Jess wouldn't feed him breakfast before they hit the road, he has to go under general Yesterday she had me on speaker while handling him and when he heard my voice he started to call out.

Closest thing to a sauna around here would to be tarping over a few cows, hold a bucket of water & light a match.

Since he obviously recognizes your voice over the phone, "call" him as often as you can to cheer him on. It'll comfort you both, I bet!

Today is surgery day! Im informing all professors I dont care about the rules but my cellphone will be on (turned down) and why. Anxiously awaiting the vet's call. When Jess goes back she will put me on speaker again.

Jingling!
As a professor, as long as we are made aware of your concerns, we are usually fine with making allowances.
Hope everything (including your finals) goes really well.
